WE DID IT! Thank you!

Back in August, we launched a Crowdfunder to raise funds to purchase community changing rooms to support our 3G pitch and hopefully support playing at the stadium earlier than planned.

We were delighted when we received news of a pledge from Sport England of £10,000 on the grounds that we reached 25% of our target.

The Club knew this would make a significant difference towards our overall target, however there was also the caveat that we had to then go on to reach the full target. Even with the generous Sport England Pledge, reaching a target of £43,185 would be a huge challenge, but we were confident that the support from the local community and beyond would come up trumps and they certainly did!

As part of the planning for the Crowdfunder, we reached out to local businesses to see if they could support us with rewards for the campaign, with the idea that the rewards might encourage donors to go that bit further and we would like to thank those businesses!

We hope those donors enjoy whichever reward they chose, especially the yummy cakes! There were also businesses that supported us with raffle prizes for the Quiz Nights we hosted, so we would like to extend our thanks to those too :-

- Don Laka

- David Lloyd Gym

- Co-op, Sawston

- Spar, Sawston

- The King's Head,

- Kaz's Indian Restaurant.

When we went live, the objective was to make as many people as possible aware of the project.

Having 18 teams throughout the club, meant that it could be shared a long way, encouraging all players and families to share as far as possible but also reaching out to the media and spreading across different social media platforms.

It was then a waiting game to sit and watch the donations come in. We were over the moon when we hit the 25% target which triggered the Sport England pledge, within seconds we were looking at a total pot of £25k.

Another big push was then needed to reach the end target, it was a worry that we wouldn’t reach it but equally we knew there were lots of people and businesses out there that wanted to help us and are as excited about the new stadium as we are, maybe even more!

With just 48 Hours to go, we continued to push the campaign out and the reward of a 10-year season ticket was a popular one, along with the personalised engraved bricks.

Then late on Sunday, Adam White from local business Intelligent Membranes donated a significant amount putting us just over £1k away from our target and this was then smashed in minutes! Intelligent Membranes love their local community and Cambridge City are at the heart of it.

CEO Adam White said 'I can’t wait to see what the future holds for the club and having an ice cold Brewboard beer on opening day will be something special.'

Alice Dewey, General Manager said ''I was overwhelmed to see Adam’s donation added and incredibly grateful for his support, thank you Adam! There has been a lot of work that went into this project and to reach the total is incredible and emotive! It shows the love from our community already and we are not in our stadium yet. I was pleased to be able to show Adam around the stadium a couple of months back and his reaction when on site to the extent of the project was amazing, it was similar to many others and I recall him saying ‘I thought it was going to be tiny!’. Everyone can see how amazing the facility once completed will be for our club but also for the local football teams and the community for non-football activity. We cannot wait to get everyone down to see it and start using the facilities in the new year!''.

The success of the Crowdfunder will now allow us to install changing rooms specifically for our 3G pitch, one part of the original project that had to be scrapped, due to the exponential cost of the project and the initial building that was going to be rebuilt not fit for purpose. We will then be able to start having matches for our teams and the local community, the possibility of local businesses being able to use the pitch for their own 5-a-side teams and lots of other activities.

We would once again like to thank everyone who has played their part in sharing and donating to help us achieve this fantastic result
