The under 14's joined City as a group in 2022, having previously won the league as Haddenham Rovers. After winning the league again last season, reaching the cup final and winning several local and national tournaments, several of last years squad stepped up to enter the JPL league with Cambridge City Warriors. This meant this season’s focus for the grassroots team has been to rebuild, particularly across our midfield and forward lines.
We welcomed 7 new players at the start of the season, and as the months have passed the team has gone from strength to strength. Friendships have developed off the pitch and this has been evident on the pitch where the girls now have a great understanding of each other and work hard for their teammates.
The team's style of fast attacking football has started to bring plenty of goals and the new squad picked up their first trophy at the end of 2023 in a tournament in Haverhill. We have only lost one game since then and currently sit top of the table in the U14A Alan Boswell League.
We have also participated in several exciting development opportunities and friendlies, with our most recent outing a visit to Peterborough United where we won one match and drew the other.
We have loved training at the fantastic new facilities at Sawston on a Thursday evening, and also train Futsal every Wednesday to develop our technical skills and decision making on the ball.
