Men What Walk: Walking and Talking for Men’s Mental Health

Cambridge City are proud to support this brand new initiative to help men in the Cambridgeshire area with opening up on Mental Health.

Men’s mental health is something we don’t talk about enough. It’s no secret that men can struggle to open up about their emotions, often feeling the pressure to “just get on with it” rather than ask for support. But the reality is, mental health affects everyone, and finding a space to talk – or even just be around others who understand – can make all the difference.

That’s why a new local initiative, ‘Men What Walk’, has been set up in South Cambridgeshire. It’s a simple but powerful idea: a group for men to come together, go for a walk, and have a chat about, well… whatever’s on their minds. Whether it’s work, family, football, or just putting the world to rights, this is a space for men to connect without pressure or judgment.

Why ‘Men What Walk’?

This group was formed in response to the devastating loss of a friend who took his own life. It was a painful reminder of how many men struggle in silence. Luke Rigby, one of the the founders of Men What Walk wanted to create something positive from the tragedy – a way for men to support each other in a natural, no-pressure environment.

Walking is a great way to encourage conversation. There’s no expectation to sit down and open up face-to-face; instead, the movement and fresh air make it easier to talk (or just listen). Whether you want to share, laugh, or simply enjoy the company, it’s all about taking that first step – literally.

Many More to Come

‘Men What Walk’ have been meeting on Sundays, with plans to open this up to other days of the week. One suggestion has been to arrange a Saturday walk to Cambridge City Fc to take in a game, and everyone is welcome. The plan is to run these walks regularly, at different locations across the local area. So keep an eye out for future events and updates. Why This Matters

Men’s mental health has been in the spotlight more in recent years, but there’s still a long way to go. Suicide remains the leading cause of death for men under 50 in the UK. Many struggle alone, not wanting to be a burden or unsure where to turn for help. Initiatives like Men What Walk offer something invaluable – a simple, welcoming space to connect with others who get it.

You don’t have to be struggling to join. Maybe you just fancy a walk. Maybe you want to meet some like-minded blokes. Maybe you just want to clear your head. Whatever your reason, Men What Walk is here for you.

So if you’re reading this and thinking, I could do with something like this – why not give it a try?

Because sometimes, a walk and a chat can change everything.

Restoring your psychological state may not be easy, especially if a person has been under a lot of stress or has been experiencing it for a long period of time. In this case, I would recommend choosing a competent specialist with the help of sono bello reviews . Here, people share their reviews of doctors and how satisfied they are with the results of their treatment.
