We are delighted to announce that we will be hosting a fundraising dinner at the impressive Cambridge Country Club on February 2nd 2024 to raise funds for the club's imminent move to the new stadium in Sawston.
The evening is sure to be a great night filled with fun and games and compared by a local comedian, with the highlight being a guest appearance from football legend Steve Claridge.
Steve played more than 800 matches for 15 league clubs and several non-league clubs over the course of a 24-year playing career, scoring more than 250 goals and pulling on the shirt of over 20 clubs.
His appearance for Bournemouth in December 2006 at the age of 40 gave him the distinction of being one of a very select few players who have amassed 1000 career appearances for clubs including;
Fareham Town, Bournemouth, Weymouth, Crystal Palace, Aldershot, Cambridge United, Luton Town, Birmingham City, Leicester City, Portsmouth, Wolverhampton Wanderers, Millwall, Brighton & Hove Albion, Brentford, Wycombe Wanderers, Gillingham, Bradford City, Walsall, Worthing and Harrow Borough.
In addition to his league exploits, Steve played a pivotal role in non-league football including starting his career at Southern League Fareham Town and he has managed teams in the lower leagues including Weymouth, Gillingham, and Salisbury City.
