A good start for new look Parability team

Writer: Sean CoxonSean Coxon

The Cambridge City Parability team started the 23/24 season well on Wednesday 11th October, despite some challenges. The first tournament was at the new location, Histon Rec. We've lost 3 or 4 players to other teams and had to field 6 players in each team (rather than 7).

The B team started off with two 0-0 draws. These were games we should have won, even managing to clear our own goalbound shot off the line in one game. However, we were getting into our stride finishing with 1-0 and 2-0 wins. A great effort from the players with a numeric disadvantage.

It was similar for the A team. Two hard-fought wins (1-0 and 2-0) set the tone. A 1-1 draw against Histon was unfortunate not to be another win, with Histon scoring with 2 mins to go after a clear foul on our defender. A defeat against a strong Cambridge U side, featuring two of our players from last year, didn't deflect from a supreme effort from our six players.

So all in all a very satisfying and pretty successful day. We now train at North Cambridge Academy on Wednesdays from 6-7 with tournaments once per month, also on a Wednesday.

New players are extremely welcome - either for training or tournaments, or both. please contact Manager Paul Davies paul.davies@which.co.uk
